Our Team

Savage Magic Productions is a New York City–based independent film and music video production company founded in 2025 by writer–director Tristan Reginato. The company focuses on developing psychologically driven, visually distinctive narrative films and stylized music videos, with an emphasis on thematic depth, performance-centered storytelling, and atmospheric worldbuilding.

 

Working primarily within the independent and micro-budget space, Savage Magic Productions is committed to crafting formally disciplined, emotionally resonant work that explores identity, power, intimacy, and perception through cinematic language. The studio operates with a multidisciplinary production model that integrates strong visual design, editorial precision, and sound-forward storytelling across both short-form and long-form projects.

 

The company is currently slated to produce approximately four short films alongside several music videos in active development and production. In parallel, Savage Magic Productions is in pre-production on its debut feature film, Optics, and is presently finalizing casting and coordinating fundraising efforts. The project represents the company’s first large-scale narrative feature initiative and signals its continued expansion into ambitious, director-driven cinema.

Imogen Whist

Tristan Reginato is a New York City–based writer, director, and producer whose work spans narrative shorts, music videos, and independent features. He is the founder of Savage Magic Productions (est. 2025), a production company dedicated to creating compelling, character-driven films and visually expressive media rooted in psychological depth and cinematic craft. He is currently in pre-production on his debut feature film Optics, where he is actively finalizing casting and leading fundraising efforts, while also producing a slate of short films and music videos under the Savage Magic banner.

Imogen Whist is a Canadian-American producer and multidisciplinary artist whose projects have screened at festivals including Cannes and TIFF. She is deeply invested in the development process, guiding projects from their nascency through production and release, with a focus on bold, formally curious storytelling. Her latest authored film, The Waiting Room, screened at the Buenos Aires International Festival, New/Next, and NoBudge and investigates what happens to people when conventional notions of time and space dissolve. Imogen is drawn to the strange shapes hidden in everyday life and loves helping emerging ideas grow into fully formed, living works.

Thomas Ford Flynn is a New York–based cinematographer, camera professional, and filmmaker whose work spans television, film, and independent productions. With a strong foundation in both technical expertise and creative storytelling, Flynn has contributed to a wide range of projects in the camera department, including notable television series such as Only Murders in the Building on Hulu. In addition to his work as a camera operator and cinematographer, Flynn is a cinematographer and producer with Savage Magic Productions, where he collaborates on narrative and visual projects that emphasize mood, texture, and character-driven imagery. Flynn is known for his keen eye for visual composition and lighting, qualities that have made him a valued member of the camera community and a reliable collaborator across genres. He is also a member of IATSE Local 52, reflecting his professional standing within the industry.

Jesse Kaplan

Jesse Kaplan is an actor and filmmaker known for his work in independent film, including notable performances in Broken Orbit (2012) and Missed Connections (2011). His on-screen roles showcase a commitment to character-driven storytelling and nuanced performances within the indie film landscape. Kaplan continues to develop both his acting and creative output across narrative projects, contributing to film productions that emphasize authentic voice and inventive cinematic expression.

Amos Efrat

Amos Efrat is a filmmaker, writer, and editor working across narrative short films and independent productions. He is known for directing and writing the character-driven short Twice at Once (2018) and for earlier work including Down Time (2013), demonstrating a focus on psychologically grounded storytelling and performance-centered cinema. His work often blends strong narrative structure with hands-on involvement in editing and post-production craft.Most recently, Efrat completed the short film Return Policy, which is preparing for its festival run, marking his latest step into the contemporary indie festival circuit. Across his projects, he maintains a multidisciplinary approach that integrates writing, directing, and editorial design to support cohesive, emotionally precise storytelling.

Jake de Nicola 

Jake DeNicola is a New York City–based director of photography, producer, and creative partner at ANIMA Works—a multidisciplinary visual production collective focused on narrative filmmaking, music videos, and experimental shorts. He has built a reputation for blending cinematic craft with collaborative storytelling, working across independent productions and branded visual projects that emphasize aesthetic composition and dynamic visual language.  DeNicola’s film credits include cinematography on Fiona (2024) and Israelism (2023), showcasing his ability to shape texture, tone, and mood through camera work.

Emily Crosier

Emily Crosier is a producer and filmmaker whose work bridges independent narrative production, festival operations, and project strategy. She is credited as a producer on All You Have and Route of the Romanesque (2024), showcasing her commitment to character-driven storytelling and collaborative filmcraft. In addition to her producing work, Emily has served as Lead Coordinator and Operations Manager for the Boston Film Festival, a role she has held for multiple years where she contributes to programming, logistics, and event execution as part of the festival’s leadership team. She is also a core producer on the film Optics

Heather Schwalb

Heather Goldin grew up in New York City surrounded by a multi-cultural-uber-creative world. Having two parents who are artists helped Heather develop a likeness to incredible people. Through modeling, music and indie creative projects at a very young age (teen) she got into street casting for casting directors like  Barbara Pfister, Nina Day and Zan Ludlum. She looks up to Marti Supreme's Jennifer Vendetti and Euphoria's Eleonore Hendricks & uses their method of calm cool and collected when approaching people. A quick "Hey you have a very interesting look. Do you have a minute to talk about an amazing project coming up. It's paid." alway's get's the win.

Preston Francis

Preston Francis is an American screenwriter and producer whose work spans film, performance, and genre-driven storytelling. His writing credits include OMGtv!! LIVE (2022), Woggie (2023), and the feature Gee Golly Die! (2022), reflecting a practice that moves fluidly between experimental narrative forms and character-focused cinema.With a background rooted in both screenwriting and performance, Preston brings a rigorous attention to dialogue, structure, and psychological nuance. His work often explores the tension between tone and meaning, blending formal curiosity with emotionally grounded storytelling.
